@ Lunar Power @

by Miss Dee

The Moon has a subtle influence on each one of us.  It affects our moods, the way things grow, and the ebbs and tides of the ocean.

Animals respond to the moon's phases, eating during the evening hours, when the moon is full, as opposed to their regular feeding schedule of early morning and dusk.

The moon, our emotional self, sways our temperament, causing us to be happy for a few days or energetic then one week later we are extremely creative.  On other days, we might find ourselves clumsy then short tempered or crabby followed by a few days of being fatigued.

Some farmers and gardeners plant their crops when the moon is in a specific zodiacal sign depending upon the results they want, for example, faster development or later harvests.  And centuries ago, a full moon was blamed for people acting crazed or going mad.

In order to watch the moon's movements through the signs, you will need to purchase either an astrological calendar or an ephemeris, a book which lists the placement of the moon, sun, and planets on any given day.

The @ is in the sign of Taurus 2 on April 1, 2006.  This is a good day to plant, reorganize or just lay back and relax.

For the successful fruition of any project, keep in mind the ingredient or the basic element of the project you want to undertake.  For example, gardening:  lettuce and spinach take more water to grow than roses do.  Plant these two vegetables when the moon is in a water sign:  Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces.

Rearranging furniture takes energy and stamina so move the furniture when the moon is in a fire sign:  Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius, but arrange the room in your mind or on paper when the moon is in an earth sign:  Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn.

The fire signs, Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius, are courageous, creative, energetic, enthusiastic, and project starters.  Start a new exercise program when the moon is in one of the fire signs and you will feel energetic during and after each session.  Fire energy is also a great time to get something over with because you are working with quick energy.

The earth signs, Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn, follow through on projects, are organized, practical, steadfast, and thorough.  When the moon is in one of the earth signs, it's a great time to re-work the household budget and prepare your Income Tax Returns.  It is also a good time to repot plants and start a flower or vegetable garden because you are working with the earth.  And it's a great time to put up the outside Christmas lights because you need patience to untangle the cords plus there needs to be organization to create a pleasing holiday design.

When the moon is in one of the water signs, Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, day-dreaming is easy.  The water element is artistic, empathetic, intuitive, nurturing, and sensitive.  It is a great time to sleep in, go fishing, paint or write.  It's also a good time to start a meditation routine.

And the air signs, Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius, are abundant with ideas and words, are objective, and are sociable.  It is a great time to catch up on your correspondence, host a party or enjoy a lengthy visit with someone.  It's also a good time to politely discuss a difference of opinion. Use the moon's energy to your advantage:  to finish up projects, plan and plant your garden to reap a large harvest, enhance the sale of your property, purchase a vehicle or effectively get your idea across to someone else.

A final note:  when the moon is full, we are more sensitive to others and our emotions seem to be in a full-blown state.  And for gardeners, start your up top veggies during a full moon and your root vegetables during a new moon.

Listed is just a small sampling of activities, elements or ingredients.  Remember to consider the main ingredient of that which you want to accomplish then match it to the appropriate sign in order to acquire what you desire.
